How the preload feature of embedded videos works and how to turn on or off

In this article we'll talk about the feature of preload in embedded videos and how to disable and activate them.

Preload is a feature enabled by default on embedded videos that, before playing the video, loads your TS – Transport Stream files. These files are the fragments that make up the video and with that, it happens to have its content loaded, before the user actually starts the video.

This creates a practicality for the user, since as soon as you play, you will have a more fluid and uninterrupted experience in your video.

However, there are scenarios that may be interesting to have this early delivery missing, that is, not loading the TS files from the video in advance.

As needed, you can easily control this through the Dashboard:

Accessing the Dashboard, go to the video listing and find the video you want to make the change

Once on it, click on the 'Embed' option that is located at the top of the screen, in the upper right corner – next to 'Performance' and the link icon button.

In the modal that opens, right at the end in 'Embedding Options', the first item will be a switch of the Preload option. This feature is already enabled by default.

Here, you can disable it by generating a new embed code.

Note that this feature will only be available for videos on platforms that do not use HLS.

Once this is done, you can use your new embed code with the disabled feature. If you want to return the feature, simply turn it back on and update the code on your platform.
