How Does Video Bandwidth Consumption Work?

The Monthly Bandwidth Consumption refers to the amount of data transferred during the streaming, playback, or download of your videos.


In the Panda Video plans, both storage and bandwidth are essential components for efficiently managing your content.


📏 How is bandwidth consumption calculated?


After uploading a video to Panda Video, it is automatically converted into multiple quality levels to adapt to each user’s connection.



You can change the dubbing of this video by clicking on the settings icon in the player and then changing the audio for it!


What affects bandwidth consumption:


  • The video quality displayed (higher quality = higher consumption).
  • The watch time (users who watch partially consume less).
  • The device used (mobile devices usually display lower resolutions).
  • Video downloads from the Dashboard, which also consume bandwidth.


In other words, if a video is 1GB in size, it does not necessarily consume 1GB of bandwidth.


Important: Avoid mass downloads from the Dashboard to prevent exceeding your contracted Monthly Bandwidth limit.

1. How do I know if my plan has enough bandwidth?


It depends on your content and your audience profile:


  • Long videos: not everyone watches until the end.
  • Autoplay videos (such as on sales pages): consume more bandwidth but increase conversions.
  • Content with many animations or colors: consumes more bandwidth than static videos.


You can adjust your plan at any time directly from the dashboard.


2. Is the monthly bandwidth renewed every month?


Yes. The contracted Monthly Bandwidth is renewed monthly:


  • Prepaid bandwidth does not roll over to the next month.
  • If you exceed the limit, the extra consumption will be charged as postpaid, with an additional fee.
  • You can track your bandwidth cycle in the Analytics menu on the dashboard.


3. Does the trial period have a bandwidth limit?


Yes. The trial plan has a 100GB bandwidth limit to prevent abuse. When you choose a plan, your package’s bandwidth will be unlocked according to your subscription.


4. How many students can I have per plan?


It depends on how your videos are consumed.


Check an estimate by plan, but we recommend starting with Bronze or Silver plans and adjusting as needed.


5. If a video is 1GB, does each view consume 1GB?


Not necessarily. Consumption varies depending on:


  • Display quality (automatically adjusted).
  • Watch time.
  • The user’s connection type and device.


6. Do video downloads consume bandwidth?


Yes. Downloads made via the Dashboard consume Monthly Bandwidth. Avoid bulk downloads to prevent hitting the contracted limit.
