Bandwidth consumption refers to the amount of data transferred when viewers watch your videos. In the Panda Video plans, Bandwidth Consumption and Storage are central elements, along with several other advantages for content management.

How is Bandwidth Consumption Calculated?

After uploading a video to Panda, it is converted into multiple quality levels to suit the user’s connection conditions:

The player uses the HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) protocol, which delivers video in small chunks, adapting automatically to ensure continuous playback.
Lower qualities consume less Monthly Bandwidth, while higher qualities (like 1080p) consume more.

For example, if a video is 1GB in its highest quality, it doesn’t necessarily mean each view will consume 1GB. The actual consumption depends on:

The quality selected (automatic or manual).
The duration of viewing (not everyone watches the entire video).
The device used (mobile devices often play lower quality versions).

Check all the information and find out how to resolve this issue

The warning: "PLAYBACK NOT PERMITTED IN THIS DOMAIN OR SUBDOMAIN" means that access to the page or resource you were trying to view is prohibited. This happens when the domain where the video is being displayed is not authorized in your Panda account.

| The solution is very simple: check the domain where the video is embedded. A common mistake is adding only the domain/subdomain of the member's area or allowing the domain without the "www" or other host used. Just add all the hosts where you plan to use your videos.

How to solve this?

Log in to the Panda dashboard
Click on 'Security' on the left side
Then go to "Allowed Domains"
Add all hosts, domains, or subdomains where you want to use videos hosted by Panda

You can also add the asterisk to the domain like *.yourdomain.com to allow all subdomains linked to it. It is important to note that if your site does not have a subdomain (it is directly on the root domain), you only need to allow yourdomain.com (without the asterisk).

Storage, or storage, is the space available for your videos to be hosted with Panda. It's important to say that when uploading a video, we need to save the different quality versions of it, so users can watch it in different ways depending on their Internet connection speed.

Our plans are based on storage (used space) and traffic. Read more about how traffic works in plans.

For example, assuming you upload a video in 1080p, we will have to generate the different versions of the video such as 240p, 360p, 480p, 720p and 1080p. It is important to say that no upscale is done, if a 720p video is uploaded, the qualities generated are up to 720p. It is also worth mentioning that, by default, all accounts have 1080p as maximum quality. It is possible to enable up to 4K if the original file has this quality.

In this way, a 1080p file uploaded should take up a few times more of the original storage.

How to make the video available offline?

It is important to say that, for security reasons, we do not make it available to download the MP4 file in an open way. This is an important feature to consider if you want to protect your content. The MP4 file (original) can be downloaded through the API, but it should never be used to make the download available to your user. This should not be done as your API Key must be kept securely.
