Depending on the user's connection and, mainly, on the bandwidth available at that moment, the player adapts for the best viewing of these converted files. Thus, there can be speed change (available files) while viewing the video without interruption. This is a feature that is widely used in any video streaming service and is available for your videos on Panda automatically.

The best bandwidth adaptation is done by the HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) protocol that delivers small pieces of the video to combine a fast playback of various qualities for the same user. That's why many times when starting a video it starts with a lower quality (for fast playback) and then improves the quality up the delivery to the higher quality versions.

What is the Domain Warning and How to Fix It?

The warning: "PLAYBACK NOT PERMITTED IN THIS DOMAIN OR SUBDOMAIN" means that access to the page or resource you were trying to view is prohibited. This happens when the domain where the video is being displayed is not authorized in your Panda account.

| The solution is very simple: check the domain where the video is embedded. A common mistake is adding only the domain/subdomain of the member's area or allowing the domain without the "www" or other host used. Just add all the hosts where you plan to use your videos.

How to solve this?

Log in to the Panda dashboard

Then go to "Allowed Domains"
Add all hosts, domains, or subdomains where you want to use videos hosted by Panda

You can also add the asterisk to the domain like *.yourdomain.com to allow all subdomains linked to it. It is important to note that if your site does not have a subdomain (it is directly on the root domain), you only need to allow yourdomain.com (without the asterisk).

How does the video storage space work?

Storage, or storage, is the space available for your videos to be hosted with Panda. It's important to say that when uploading a video, we need to save the different quality versions of it, so users can watch it in different ways depending on their Internet connection speed.

Our plans are based on storage (used space) and traffic. Read more about how traffic works in plans.

For example, assuming you upload a video in 1080p, we will have to generate the different versions of the video such as 240p, 360p, 480p, 720p and 1080p. It is important to say that no upscale is done, if a 720p video is uploaded, the qualities generated are up to 720p. It is also worth mentioning that, by default, all accounts have 1080p as maximum quality. It is possible to enable up to 4K if the original file has this quality.

In this way, a 1080p file uploaded should take up a few times more of the original storage.

How to make the video available offline?

It is important to say that, for security reasons, we do not make it available to download the MP4 file in an open way. This is an important feature to consider if you want to protect your content. In some services, as we already mentioned in Vimeo's lack of security, it is simple (even too much) to access and download the MP4 file and make it available within an application to its users.

The MP4 file (original) can be downloaded through the API, but it should never be used to make the download available to your user. This should not be done as your API Key must be kept securely. So it's normal for the player to start playing the video with a lower quality and then adjust/improve it as the video runs. This helps to have faster video playback, but reduces the initial quality.
