Cost per play and per user

To bring more transparency about your costs and prove our cost-effectiveness, we created the Cost per play and Cost per user metrics.

These metrics update based on the number of plays your videos receive, and how many videos each user watches, based on their IP.

In this article, we’ll explain how this calculation is made.

How is the average cost per play calculated?

These metrics use bandwidth and billing data to calculate the cost per view.

Calculation

Formula

Cost per GB

Invoice amount ÷ Contracted bandwidth

Total cost of the period

Cost per GB × Bandwidth used in the period

Average cost per play

Total cost ÷ Number of plays

Practical example

Data

Value

Subscription

$14.90

Contracted bandwidth

300 GB

Bandwidth used (period)

1 GB

Plays in the period

10

Step by step:

  1. Cost per GB: $14.90 ÷ 300 ≈ $0.05
  2. Period cost: 1 × $0.05 = $0.05
  3. Cost per play: $0.05 ÷ 10 = $0.005

In this example, the average cost per play is $0.005.

The Average cost per user considers the number of plays each IP generated. You can check these details in the User Report.
