Custom Fields for Videos

Custom Fields are a way to record and view metadata associated with each video.

They allow you to add specific information about the source, identification, or any other relevant data for your integrations and internal history.

What are Custom Fields?

Custom fields are key-value pairs (example: Source: Vimeo) that can be filled in automatically by the system or manually by you.

These fields help to:

  • Identify where the video came from (such as Vimeo, Google Drive, Manual Upload, etc.);
  • Record the original ID of the video on the source platform;
  • Maintain a structured internal history to make searches and integrations easier.

How to add and view Custom Fields

You can manage custom fields directly within the video settings in the Panda Video dashboard.

  1. Access the desired video;
  2. Go to Settings > Custom Fields;
  3. Click Add field;
  4. Define the key name (e.g., Source);
  5. Enter the corresponding value (e.g., Google Drive);
  6. Save your changes.

The fields will appear right below the Video Data section, in a list format.

In cases of import using our Chrome Extension, the source and video ID fields will be filled in automatically.

Feature limits and rules

  • Each key is unique per video — you can’t add the same key more than once in a single video;
  • The recommended limit for both name and value is 1,000 characters;
  • You can add up to 50 custom fields per video;
  • Once a field is created, it becomes available for selection in other videos, streamlining the standardization process;
  • If the user doesn’t have permission to edit the fields, the interface will indicate the restriction.

Using via API

In addition to manual entry via dashboard, custom fields can also be created and updated via API.

Audit and change control

Every change made to custom fields is recorded in the audit events, ensuring traceability and data security.

This way, you can track who added, modified, or removed a specific field.

Practical benefits

  • Centralized organization of video source information;
  • Easy bulk data export (CSV);
  • Improved integration with APIs and external systems;
  • Complete and auditable history for each video.
